book and it was so so. The book was "The Appeal" by John Grisham. I love John Grisham books but this one, well to put it frank wasn't that great. I mean I read it and finished it but I don't know. I guess with how the economy is right now and how the book was about big corporate business that control EVERYTHING it wasn't that great of a read. Maybe I needed to time it differently and read it in a year or two! Anyways, now I'm on "Three Cups of Tea".
Who has a book that they would like to recommend me? I love any and all books really.

Book(s) Review
I've finished two more books in the last 3 1/2 weeks thanks to my commute and "checking out" of life for a while on BART. Thanks to my friend, Vanessa, and our love for the same author I found "People of the Book" by Geraldine Brooks. This book was AMAZING! The second book I found while roaming the shelves at Barnes and Noble. "The Kommandant's Girl" by Pam Jenoff was breathtaking. Lately I see to be drawn to WWII books or books about the Jewish faith. (Another book I recommend is "Sarah's Key" by Tatiana de Rosnay. It's about a roundup in 1942 of the Jews in Paris.)

Rewind
The week was normal; eat, breathe, sleep work! Romulo's back hasn't been feeling the best so he worked from home this week and was trying to keep a low profile. On Tuesday we took advantage of IHOP'S offer of free pancakes. And the funniest thing was when we sat down at our table Romulo started looking through the menu and asked me what I wanted! Um hello FREE PANCAKES! LOL! It was fun! Today was my nephew Winfield's 2nd birthday and he was treated to a Chucky Cheese party. Too bad I couldn't be there (they live in VA). But I was able to go to IKEA (in Palo Alto) with Romulo. That place is HUGE and I love opening all the cabinet's and playing with it all. (To see if its actually functional and all; right!)

Washington vs. Washington D.C.
That's right I heard a little girl ask her mother the other night what the difference was between Washington and Washington D.C.! I thought gosh simple answer to that everyone knows the difference. Right? Wrong! This mother either didn't listen in history classes or she was caught off guard. But still, come on! So what did she say back to her curious little child. Let me explain below in dialogue.
Little Girl: "Mom what's the difference between Washington and Washington D.C.?"
Mother: "Ones a city and the other one is a special city!" (My thoughts: What are you serious the last time I checked Washington was a STATE not a city and well D.C. is a special city.)
Little Girl: "Why is D.C. more important than Washington?" (Umm little girl it just is...haha sorry I'm from Northern Va it's really close to D.C. and really far from the STATE of Washington!)
Mother: "Who says D.C. is more important?" (Okay again, hello lady your daughter was meaning: important events, D.C. is where many important things are taken care of that do effect you!)
Little Girl: "Well isn't Obama there?" (OH yes child. Good thing she knew our Presidents name.)
Mother: "He lives in the White House."
Little Girl: again asks, "But why is D.C. more important than Washington?" (Good thing I had to go the other way because by the way this conversation was going I was about to butt in and correct the mother and give the little girl a very detailed lesson on how, why, when, etc D.C. was made.)
C'mon people don't we know why D.C. is important? It's just our Nations Capital, that's all! Okay I must admit maybe I am a little more passionate about this topic because I lived so near but still it's our American Culture/History. We need to know these simple answers. And know that Washington is a STATE! One of the 50 states that make up this great nation!
Another bit of advise adults, if you don't know the answer just tell your child you don't know and tell them they can look the answer up with you! So you both can learn something.

FIRE. "It was always burning just the world kept turning!" Yup that's right Mr. Billy Joel we didn't start the fire!
Okay, so why am I writing about a really old song that the music video took place in the kitchen? I can answer that by one simple sentence, Romulo had never heard this song until NOW! What, are you serious? Seriously that's what I thought too! We were laying in bed and you know when its time to go to bed you get silly and random topics come into your mind. Well that was me the other night. He was trying to tell me about his day and he said something that started with, "We didn't start..." and that was it I got that song in my head and I spit it out. "We didn't start the fire..." He looked at me and was like "What?" And you can figure out the rest of our conversation.
And for those that know this song you really only know the chorus and everything else is a bunch of random silly names or events; right?! So it drove me crazy that I couldn't remember those random silly names or events. And while I was trying so hard to figure it out my husband beside me starts making up his own words to the song. So that's when I busted out of bed and got on google and itunes. That's right at 10:30pm I not only looked up the song but I bought the song on itunes. Hilarious I know but I had to teach my Brazilian something!
And all the next day I had that song in my head and every time Romulo was to say something to me he would start it off by saying, "We didn't start the fire!". It was a great moment, thanks Billy Joel.

My Valentine!
Aiden has to be one of the cutest babies I know. My sister Sarah had her second child (another boy) in December (12th) and when Aiden was 14 days old she had these pictures taken by a local photographer. I just love them and thought I would show him off and brag about what an awesome responsibility it is to be an AUNTIE! Now if I can only convince my sister to wrap him up and ship him here for Valentines Day...hahaha just kidding of course! 
Pillow Fight Anyone?
That's right a pillow fight! What you might be saying but it's true on Valentine's Day there is a "Pillow Fight" event in front of Romulo's office; Embarcadero. The Fight has some rules though:
1. Bring a Pillow
2. Hitting doesn't start until the Clock Tower from the Pier strikes 6pm.
3. No hitting anyone without a pillow (unless they ask) and no hitting people with cameras!
4. Have Fun!
I love this idea. I think I might drag Romulo there so I can give him one big WACK! so he knows I TRUELY LOVE HIM!!!

Positive Thoughts
Why is it lately I feel like I'm venting about random crazy things I see through out the week? Maybe I've been a little stressed lately because I've been putting in long hours at work. I thought this last weekend would bring some rest to Romulo and I but we were wrong. I woke up on Saturday morning to hammering and banging and I was like what the heck is this? It was 9 am and the construction guys that have been at our develop for the last week putting up new siding had decided to work on a Saturday!!! What were they thinking? I wasn't really happy with that but oh well it must be done.
Let's see can I think of something positive to say right now...OH YES! I had to cutest phone call with my almost 2 year old nephew Zander. He (or should I say my sister) called me Sunday afternoon and when I said "Hello" he shouted "La-La!" and a bunch of baby talk following that. When I was home for Christmas Zander gave me the nickname La-La and boy he hasn't forgotten his "La-La". According to my sister, Sarah, he will scream for me day and night and whenever someone in my family talks about me he shouts my name and starts looking around. But anyways back to the phone call I had with him. At the end of the call I could hear my sister in the background say "Okay, say bye bye and I love you!" And the next thing I heard was a big smack of the lips on the phone. It was the cutest thing, he kissed the phone! Oh Zander-Buddy I miss you.
Okay a 2nd positive thing; Romulo's little brother , Luccas, and his wife are expecting their first baby in October. We are super excited for them. Romulo's other brother and his wife are due with their 4th child in July. Hopefully Romulo and I can visit Brazil to see these two new cute babies...let's hope for this thought!
But Romulo and I are doing fine. We are just plugging away at this work life and trying to adjust to our new callings at Church.

News and the Paper
Just a random post that I saw the other day in my travels on BART that I would like to share with you. So when you read the newspaper and when you go to turn the pages does the middle (the crease) of the newspaper sometimes poke out towards you and drive you nuts? It does with me, but that isn't the case here. What do you do to fix the problem? Shake the paper out or poke it out with your fingers/hands?? I don't know of any other way or have seen any other way of fixing this constant problem of the newspaper; until now.
I was sitting behind a guy who was getting really upset with his newspaper poking out. He was shaking it really hard and smacking it with his hand but this didn't seem to make him content. So you know what he did? He HEADBUTTED the newspaper. Yes, you read that right, he took his forehead and butted the crease that was sticking out. I thought it was kind of funny because I've never seen such action taken to a newspaper.
Just another day in BART paradise.
