Okay, maybe not! Maybe he just wears what Mom and Dad put on him!

Menininho

Dear Kau'e,

Happy 6 months! Everything about you Kau'e melts Mommy and Daddy's hearts! Whenever we look at you we say a silent little prayer thanking Heavenly Father for sending you to our family. You were wanted so much and when we found out we were going to have you, sweet little boy, we were filled with joy!

Kau'e remember what your name means, "man full of goodness who acts with integrity and intelligence". Remember that your Heavenly Father loves you and wants you to be the best little boy ever. Remember that Mom and Dad are always here for you to help you in any way possible. Remember Kau'e that you have a large family that loves you and are also willing to help support you.

Mommy loves it when you wake up from a nap because you allow Mommy to kiss you all over and you are all smiles. We love to see the many changes that you have gone through. The most recent development is you being so alert and attentive when your name is called. We love the little raspberries you make even if its during church. Mommy loves it when you get all excited for your favorite T.V. show, Super Why. Mommy loves your smile. You have one of the most natural happy smiles and you love to show it off to everyone that looks at you.

But the one thing Mom and Dad loves the most about you is that you seem to always have your own schedule! You came to our family with all surprises and have continued to make your own path! Don't ever let anyone tell you that you are different because you are our special little boy!

From Preemie to Sumo Boy we love you oh so much!

With Love,

Mommy and Daddy xoxo

P.S. I love this last picture! What a funny little boy?

Rollie-Pollie Kau'e

The day before Kau'e turns 6 months old he finally can say he checked off another milestone; he rolled over! (Last week he sat up for the first time all by himself. And he's been trying to master that since.) Now Kau'e has been rolling over in his crib but we have never witnessed it! We only know that sometimes when he goes down for a nap or bedtime he's on his stomach (yeah he loves his tummy) and then when he wakes up or is fussy he's miraculously on his back!

But today while doing tummy time he did it! I happened to look over at him the instant he first rolled over so I grabbed the camera and tried to capture it. Luckily he wasn't too fussy or tired to do it again! He likes to fuss while he's doing tummy time but its not a bad fuss its just working hard fussy! (He rolls from tummy to back on his left side.)

(By the way, this onesie says, "Mom says I'm Dino-mite" and it's a 18 month onesie!)

Raspberries: His New Trick

Raspberries is the new trick Kau'e has learned! He discovered his voice a few weeks ago and I think he's just now realizing he can do much much more! I love to see him starting to get upset and then the raspberries begin to form! (In these two pictures you can't really see the raspberries but there are a few little bubbles left over under his lips, on his chin!)

Also, Kau'e loves the PBS show Super Why! I have been experimenting with what shows grabs his attention and so far his all time fave is Super Why, then its Little Einsteins, and lastly Handy Mandy! So the other day Romulo surprised Kau'e with a gift of two Super Why books and a Super Why doll.

Boys Are Just Better

That's what his bib says, not me! I just love this little boy and all his noises. I don't know what it is about boys and noises but they have quiet the imagination when if they are an infant.

The Heart Beat that Changed Everything

June 24 2010 was the day we fell in love with this little baby (Kau'e)! At 6 weeks and 1 day pregnant we saw our little miracle embryo growing and heard the heart beating!

After taking 2 months off of fertility treatments on June 10 2010 I took a pregnancy test because I just wasn't feeling like "myself"! And sure enough it was positive!

Now look at him!

First Successful Sitting

Kau'e today had a successful time on the floor! He was able to sit up by himself for longer than 10 seconds! Okay, so that's not very long but trust me for Kau'e that's great considering how big his upper body is for a little dude!

And then his body slowly started to fold in half! :)

(He's 6 days shy of his 6 month "birthday"!)

I Did It!

30 days later without chocolate and I'm still alive! I guess by now I could go longer without but I wanted to challenge myself! Plus, I made brownies last night for Romulo to take to a Brazilian family he is helping the Sister Missionaries teach but that discussion got cancelled and I couldn't let perfectly delicious brownies go to waste.

So on the eve of my 30th day without chocolate I had a piece. And to be honest it was super sweet! Now through out these 30 days I have had other sweets but for whatever reason it tasted really sweet! Don't get me wrong it was delicious but it felt really heavy! But the best part is that I only had 1 piece and NOT THE WHOLE THING. Just kidding!

So I think I'm going to send the rest of the brownies along with Romulo to take to work so I don't have to look it all day! I feel stronger after this 30 day challenge but I'm still human!

Mr. Cool

Kau'e actually has a shirt that has a Hippo on it with sunglasses on that says Mr. Cool! (Note to self, I need to get a picture of him in it before it doesn't fit.) I tell you this boy sure does know how to grow! He is starting to almost get too big for 12 month clothing!

Its been really hot here lately and today supposely is the hottest day so far of the year! So I made plans with a friend to get frozen yogurt! I needed it! Plus Kau'e always has fun seeing his friend G. I love seeing little babies interact with one another! It's adorable.

Here's Kau'e on Sunday right before Church and today:

1st Father's Day 2011

Kau'e and I want to express to you how much we love and care for you Dad, Romulo! You are the rock of the family. The glue that holds us all together! And without you in our life, we wouldn't be complete!

Happy (1st) Father's Day!

Baby Shower in a Park

I can not wait until Kau'e is old enough to actually go to a Park and play! But for now we will hold him or lay him down on a blanket for him to enjoy!

Today we had a baby shower to attend, one of those cool all are invited not just us ladies (but I do love the all exclusive lady showers...lol), at a near by park and let me tell you Kau'e had fun in the sun (okay the shade)! We put a blanket down and he even had a friend to play with! Baby Evan was born mid-January of this year so Kau'e and him are weeks apart! I just love that he will have many more kids to play with in the next few months. Our Ward is having a baby boom; I think just this year there will be 19 babies born! Something for sure is in the water in Walnut Creek! LOL!

(Kau'e is 5 months 3 weeks old today.)

17 1/2 More Years Mom

The other day I was playing around with Kau'e and telling him that one day he would be a man like daddy and how much fun the world would be for him! And wouldn't you believe Romulo had the nerve to say "Yeah Kau'e when your big like me you will be out of our hair. Only 17 1/2 more years Mom!"

I couldn't believe it, Romulo was already counting down the days! LOL, of course he was joking! But it made me think that yes this little boy will be big one day and will be "out of our hair"! Let's just say it made me tear up!

Just look at this little face:

Being Kau'e

Kau'e updates below:

Kau'e cracks me up every time he goes number 2! He will always wait for a new diaper before doing his business! He will get changed and within minutes he will do number 2! I always wonder why he does this because its not like I leave him in a wet diaper for longer than 3 hours!

Well yesterday was no different besides I guess he couldn't wait for the new diaper. I had just taken off the diaper and wiped his bum off with a wipe when he let out a little toot! It was cute! Why are baby bodily functions cute? Anyway, he let out a toot and before I could catch it he started pooping! It was too funny! I had to put the clean diaper down and wipe him up again! I guess the only good thing out of that is I didn't waste a clean diaper but I did have to do some extra laundry on the changing pad!

Kau'e is getting really strong! In his crib he will leverage himself and roll over but do you think he will roll over on his own on the floor! Nope! I don't get it! He will also get up on his hands and feet like he's in the push up position and rock back and forth; for seconds of course! Does he do this outside of his crib? Nope! I don't get it! We will put him down for the night in one spot of the crib and then when we go get him in the middle of the night or after a nap and he will be on his back in a different spot than I laid him! It's funny!

He loves his play exersaucer and of course all the toys that Mom and Dad just bought him the past weekend! And he loves to stand up whenever he gets the chance!

Kau'e for the past few days has been enjoying rice cereal in his bottle! I tell you this kid loves food any food. He will stare at food and I can only imagine what he's thinking! So far so good with the rice cereal. Next step, applesauce on Sunday! Yes!

(Don't you love this little muscle man outfit! It cracks me up!)

Peds GI Doctor Appt

Kau'e is one lucky dude because he gets to see all of these special specialists! Kau'e met with the Pediatric GI doctor today to check out his acid reflux issues. Dr Hassall is one awesome guy and he couldn't believe how big Kau'e was for a premature baby!

Kau'e's stats today at the doctors (5 1/2 months old):
20.4 lbs (95%)
26 3.4 inches long (50%)

Dr. Hassall said that sometimes when babies proportions of weight to height are not equal they can experience acid reflux because the flap is getting pushed by their stomach. And that's what he thinks is happening with Kau'e since he's always been on the stockier side! Also, he thinks since Kau'e eats so much (32-40oz of milk a day) that its easier for him to spit up because liquids are easier to come out than solids would be. So he gave us the go-ahead to start feeding Kau'e solids. He wants us to start with rice cereal, bananas, pears, applesauce, and carrots. Plus he wants us to give him water.

He thinks that if Kau'e is eating more solids that this wouldn't cause him to spit up as much since solids are easier to keep down than liquids. Plus, this might statisfy him better than 100% liquid diet. We hope this helps Little Man!

Dr. Hassall called Kau'e a "fat happy eater" when it came to drinking formula. He said that its actually a term they throw around the Peds GI department about babies who eat so well that they are literally fat and happy! Ha-Ha! I love it! He wants us to watch out for this fat happy eater because he said that sometimes when babies have acid reflux problems they continue to eat through the pain; comfort eater! (Wonder where he gets that from? He has to get something from me, right! Great.)

Besides starting solids he wants us to up his dose of Zantac to 2ml 3x a day. With the combination of starting up solids and upping his dose of meds he hopes Kau'e's acid reflux problems calm down. So we have a follow up appointment in 3 weeks. But he told us that this might not fix things because sometimes Zantac just stops working for whatever reason with people.

Kau'e was a trooper at the doctors, he loved this doctor! Kau'e followed Dr. Hassall's every move and I think the Doctor had a mutual love for Kau'e. The Doctor kept telling us how handsome he was, what a cute smile Kau'e had, and how strong he was!

Since the doctors appointment was at the hospital (CPMC) where Kau'e was born we had the chance to stop in the Labor and Delivery department to see the many nurses that took care of Mom while we were in the hospital for a week waiting for Kau'e's arrival. It was differently weird being back in that place after going through what we did. Seemed like a life time ago! It brought back to many memories for us and the feelings of that place will always be special to me in my heart! If we have more kids I will defiantly be delivering there because the people make it worth while! All the nurses couldn't believe how big of a chunk he was! Of course Kau'e gave them his best smiles while visiting! Unfortunately the nurse who helped me deliver Kau'e wasn't there but we left a little note for her!

After the appointment Dad drove us the long way home so Kau'e could drive across the Golden Gate Bridge for the first time! He's been over the bridge before but that was when Kau'e was in mommy's tummy!

My Tiny Hands

Kau'e learning that he has a body! I just love it when I see him discovering his hand/s and I finally got a small video clip of it to share with you! It really does warm my heart to see this little boy growing before my eyes!

Forgive the lack of clothing or appearance of Kau'e, he's always looking at his hand/s when I go to change his diaper. But every time I get up to get the camera he gets distracted by me moving! So, this time I finally got it.

The Heart of a Brazilian

Romulo was one proud Brazilian Daddy yesterday when he got to watch Ronaldo's last soccer game with the Brazilian National Soccer team with his son Kau'e. Romulo said to me, "My Son will see Ronaldo play his first game when its Ronaldo's last."

Kau'e and Dad

Ronaldo Facts:
Played soccer from 1993-2011
Played 98 games for the Brazilian national Team
Scored 62 goals

Multi-Tasking

Is such a blessing at times but sometimes you multi-task too many things at once that you forget that your baby has pooped and is still sitting in it! Yikes, this morning I walked past Kau'e and I could smell his poopy diaper but I was in the middle of washing his bottles so I told him (yeah I talk to him) "Let Mommy finish washing your bottles and then I'll change your stinky!".

Well, let's just say 30 minutes later I walked by him again and I thought why does he still smell?! Yikes, I forgot! Good thing he was all smiles and didn't mind too much! I just hate that!

Sorry Kau'e! Today you will have extra extra Mommy Time!

P.S. I'm not the only one that has done this, right?

P.P.S. Kau'e is starting to raise his left arm/hand up in the air and just stare at it for minutes on end! Its super cute especially when he moves his hand around and his eyes are following and then he brings his hand/arm to his mouth and starts sucking on it! I love seeing the little changes in him!

Breakfast at Boyd

Today our Ward held a breakfast that was suppose to be in the park, Pancakes in the Park, but since it's raining we held it at a chapel that is on Boyd Road (Breakfast at Boyd)!
We had fun eating pancakes, chatting with friends, and I think Kau'e did a share of flirting!

(Forgive mom's plastered hair; it was raining hard.)

Mommy's Monster

Little Kau'e making some cute noises!

Where Did My Kau'e Go?

Kau'e for the past week has been not himself and I want him back! He isn't eating as much as he usually does, hasn't been sleeping well (more like a newborn schedule than the long 6-7 hour stretches at night time), crying more and that's not like him, and spitting up more!

After a week of talking to the nurses on the phone and trying new things I had enough of it and made an appointment so we could talk face to face! Well, we have a plan! The plan is to give him Zantac (1.4ml) 3x a day and then to follow up with them on Tuesday. If a week goes by and he's doing better and back to himself then we can try the rice cereal back put this time give it to him in the bottle (1 teaspoon of rice cereal mixed with 4oz of milk). They said that they usually tell parents to give kids with reflux rice cereal in a bottle. I'd never heard of it. But if things don't look up for there then we will see the GI specialist.

I just want my little happy go lucky boy back.

We got him on the scale today and at 5months 6days little Kau'e is a whopping 19 lbs 13 oz! And the doctors/nurses all through out the office said what a big handsome boy we had on our hands!!!! They couldn't get over him being a preemie and looking like this now!!! Me either people, me either!

P.S. Happy 6 years 9 months anniversary to you Mr. Aguilar! Kisses!
