SF kind of Christmas

Before we left for Brazil we knew we had to see the lights of downtown SF/Union Square for little boy to enjoy! Tonight we did just that. Isn't it beautiful?

We walked along Union Square looking at the tree, the lights, and the ice skaters. We walked to the Neiman Marcus store with their large tree. I've always loved seeing this stores tree. Then we went to Macy's to enjoy the Christmas Shop on the 7th floor. There was a Santa and let me tell you this Santa looked AMAZING! but since we had already gotten Santa pictures for this year we opted out. Next year I am going there! Then when we were there we found this fun picture/app thing. You downloaded the Christmas-o-magic app on your phone and then stood on these markers and you got a picture with these adorable little computer kids.

Afterwards we ate at the Burger Bar and sat along the windows and admired the tree and ice skating rink. (Picture above.)

Christmas is going to be fun this year in Brazil with Kau'e. It will be a different type of WHITE Christmas but none the less you will have a white sandy Christmas.

11 Months

11 months, really? I know, I can't believe it either! Our little boy, Kau'e, will be 1 year in a month! He brings so much joy in our lives and to others around him.

He has the cutest little smile and sometimes plays bashful with you.

He has 6 teeth (3 top and 3 bottom) with two more coming in; budding.

His eyes are starting to have more green in them even though some days they are completely blue. But with the gene pool he has they will most likely be green or darker.

His hair is soft but super curly and is dark brown but has a golden shine to it like mine. The back is completely jheri curled while the front gets a little more relaxed because of him rubbing it up against things while either sleeping or playing. After a nap or in the morning his hair is usually wet from sweat and its really curly.

He loves to be outside. He will look outside of our sliding window and look at the trees or the sky. We (usually) go on morning walks and he is really calm during them.

He isn't really saying any words; just baby talk. We think he calls for me by saying "Ba, Ba". It's really funny when he wants something he will scream Ba, Ba for me and then when I respond to him he smiles and quiets down. He has developed this fake cough/cry. He will make this fake cough when he wants attention. He's also making a smacking noise with his mouth/tongue.

He crawls on all fours still and he is walking with the assistance of things; the couch, his Mickey Mouse toy car, sliding window, the wall, the tub, etc. He will walk (along the sectional) to get a bottle. If I have a bottle in hand and sit on the couch he will get all excited and make his way to me. But last night (Nov 27 around 6:30pm) while we were trying to calm him down for the evening we sat across from each other and had Kau'e attempt to walk. And wouldn't you know he took 2-3 steps all by himself for about 10 minutes. After that he got really tired but I would too if I was trying to walk and was at or above 25lbs. Hopefully within the month or close to his 1 year he will be walking; no rush.

I'm pretty sure he is around 25-27lbs. He is wearing size 4 diapers but have bought 5 to try. Clothing he wears 18-24 month. Most pants/shirts need to be 24 months because of his belly but for pants the length of 18 months is perfect so with the 24 months we just roll up the length! What can you do? Shoes? Well we bought him some but now they don't fit him because his feet are so thick! We aren't going to worry about shoes until he has started to really walk well then let's break the bank on shoes that fit him!

On average he sleeps through the night but there are some days that he likes to wake up between 3-5am for a bottle. Sleeps from 7pm to 6:30am but we don't get him out of his crib until 7am-ish. Naps are usually around 11am-Noon for 1 and 1/2 hours to 3 hours. This is all average times given.

He loves music. When he hears music he shakes his head from side to side and is all smiles. His whole body shakes its adorable. Sometimes when he is really happy he will move his legs back and forth while he is in the sitting position; its his happy feet!

He loves bath time. He will play with his tub toys and flip and turn in the water but his newest thing is to stand up and hang on the bar that is in the tub. We have tried the shower head on him while he's in the tub and it hasn't bothered him but he's always been in a tub with water. So one day we will try just the shower.

Kau'e loves the car. He loves to look around and outside the window. He doesn't fit us in the car seat (yet). But trust me he will help assist you in getting him unbuckled; he's ready to get out!

Food! What more can I say about this? He loves food. He is completely on table solid foods! He has three square meals and loves every moment! He is still taking a bottle or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5! He on average drinks 40 oz of milk a day; 4-5 bottles of 10oz each! We are still putting 1 tablespoon of barley in each bottle to help fill him! I can't wait for his 1 year mark so we can switch to whole milk and buy buy formula which costs us way too much a month! Sometimes I'm amazed that we make it month to month because of his milk drinking! JK!

Christmas on Thanksgiving

Yup, that's what we did at least for Kau'e this evening! With us going to Brazil for the whole month of December my mom sent Kau'e his Christmas gifts early and we had him open them (with our help of course) while we Kinected on XBox with my family (in VA). It was a lot of fun and great spending time with them on this day; even if its by Kinect.

We aren't doing BlackFriday this year and man am I itching to head out! I mean come on people its BlackFriday, who needs a deal to go out! Just go and something will catch your eye! Okay maybe that's what's wrong with it! Ha-Ha! All I know is BlackFriday will be missed this year and it will seriously miss ME!

Happy Thanksgiving

We are thankful for this time of year! And we are most thankful for the health and love we have for each other and for our family all over the world!

The Start to the Holidays

Happy (early) Thanksgiving to all!

We are hanging around the Bay Area for Thanksgiving this year since we will be in Brazil all of December! Yup, we leave December 1st and come back on the 31st! We couldn't be more excited to spend Christmas in Brazil this year with Kau'e and to also celebrate his 1st Birthday in Brazil! Since we will be gone for so long we decided to stay around here for Thanksgiving. But with leaving in less than a week we knew we couldn't cook/bake the feast we would like! So the eve of Thanksgiving we took Kau'e to the Mall to see Santa! Kau'e didn't mind Santa until he started to talk to Kau'e and well the tears and the fear came over him! But I think we got some good pictures to show him in the future.

Also, we treated Kau'e to his first McDonald's Happy Meal! We figured since we will be traveling so much and in so many different airports we thought why not let him try McDonald's since they are everywhere! Is that bad? But hey, what's a childhood without McDonald's? Who cares if he is 5 days short of 11 months!
