Video of RugRat Himself

Forgive any and all noises! We get excited over the small things in life!

RugRat

He's trying his hardest to crawl! This afternoon putting him on the rug with other kids sure made him want to do what they could do! He was scooting and crawling (kind of) around!

I'll take a picture later but little boy is 8 months old today. He has a new nickname: Cowboy! It's adorable and its sticking! We love you Little Cowboy! Keep growing and learning!

Running Around

Yes, I feel like a chicken with its head chopped off today! Crazy, will explain later but I had time (5 minutes) to post this adorable picture of Kau'e. I guess he can feel the excitement in the air today because he decided to put himself to sleep! And I guess it really didn't matter to him how he feel asleep!

Not So Little

Well, Little Boy is starting to grow up. He's starting to do new things so fast! It's hard to believe that on the 28th of this month he will be 8 months old! Crazy.

Here he is in the bath tub. I had a little mesh bouncy like thing that we could put him in to bathe him but he soon got really big and strong that he could roll himself right off it. I ended up basically taking a bath with him with all the water he splashed out! So, for one day I put him straight in the tub but lets just say he quickly learned that he couldn't breath under the water. Nothing major happened just took one too many dips under water! It was time for something new. So I went to BuyBuyBaby and got this cute little inflatable tub. I swear the second I put him in it he's become a little fish! He loves it so much! Plus, I can keep a better eye on him because the water isn't that high.

Pictures of him straight in the tub and then in his new little tub.

Romulo has the best of luck with teaching Kau'e new tricks. I think he has too much attitude with Mom that he's afraid to pull any of that with Dad. So it didn't surprise me that today while Romulo was in the Ward Clerk's office doing his Church calling that he was able to lay Kau'e down on a blanket on the floor and just hand Kau'e a bottle to drink. Yup, Kau'e took his first bottle all by himself at church today. I was sorry I missed it but had a great time in Sunday School. Later tonight, Kau'e showed off his new trick that he learned with Daddy. Hopefully this will be a pattern!

Can you tell he's not really using his thumbs? Some steps Kau'e. Before I know it you will learn to fully hold that bottle of yours. Plus, he loves to stick the whole bottle nipple in his mouth. It's hilarious. We joke around with him that he's going to do Daddy's trick when he was younger. Romulo would bite the tip off of the nipple to make the hole bigger so he could get more milk/juice out. Now that Kau'e has two little bottom teeth, he's on his way to doing just what Daddy did.

Oh this little boy keeps me on my toes. So, we started off having Kau'e in a bassinet. Love the bassinet but he quickly (way too quick) out grew that thing so we had to move him on to the next thing. When we were debating whether to move to a bigger apartment or stay in our 1 bed SF apartment we ended up buying a Pack N Play. So after we moved to WC to a 2 bedroom apartment we still only had the Pack N Play. At 4 months he moved him from the Bassinet to his Pack N Play. Over some time we thought he wasn't sleeping well in it. Nothing major happened just didn't seem like he was getting the sleep that he should be. So a month ago we bought him a crib. We thought that things would get better. Well wouldn't you know this little boy does not like his crib at all. Sure, it took him a few days to get used to the Pack N Play after the bassinet and yes he was younger then but after 4 days of continuous crying off and on every 20 minutes all night long and falling right asleep the second we pick him up and then putting him down he would instantly wake up we knew we needed to put him back in the Pack N Play. Wouldn't you know the second we put him back in that thing he slept all night long.

It's pretty funny to walk into his room and see a nice big crib set up and then right in front of it is the Pack N Play. Crazy Kid.

Well, these pictures are from when we were trying to get him used to the crib. Earlier he spit up all over his sheets and the bumper pad so I had to get them clean before putting them back on the crib. So when it was time for him to go down for a nap the bumper wasn't ready. (I learned quickly I needed a back up on hand.) This picture is of him screaming because during his nap he found himself in a sticky situation.

Another Busy One

Another busy week for the Aguilar family. Kau'e and I went into SF twice this week. One day to go to the 6th Annual Ice Cream Social for MSSB, where I used to work. It was fun to go in with Kau'e and have everyone see him. Last time we went into the office was when he was 3 months old to do a baby shower for me.

The next day we all went as a family to the Brazilian Consulate office to get Kau'e's Braziilian paperwork in order. Kau'e will now have Dual Citizenship with his birth certificate and passport from Brazil!

Today, Kau'e and I went to the local post office to get his USA passport documents together. By mid to end September Kau'e will have all his Brazilian and USA documents! How cool?

It was really cute to see him seat by himself on the stool to get his passport picture taken! He did such a great job for an almost 8 month old!

Mom started up a walking group! Yup, can you believe it? I figured if I'm going to walk I might as well do it with people I like! So, I sent out an email and so far I have two girls that join me! We meet up at 7:45am and walk for about 3 miles or 1 hour! Its fun because we all have boys and they are all around the same age give or take a few weeks! But we are having fun! Let's hope we can keep it up because I love it! Plus, Kau'e enjoys it enough that he ends up falling asleep! And that my friends is a great sign!

SF Our Home

When I think of the word HOME, I first think of Virginia! The small town of Purcellville that shaped who I was and who I am today. I love being from Virginia. I don't know if its just pride knowing that I'm from there or the fact that all my family still lives there (minus me and my littlest sister). But its hard for me to think of the word home and not think of Virginia.

But if you ask Romulo, he will say "Home is where you and Kau'e are at!" (AWWW, too cute!) Really, he doesn't think of a place. He just thinks of where his family (us) is for his home. I'm sure if you talk to him later he will say he too loves being from Brazil. And I love knowing he's from Brazil too! He has such cool roots there and I will never take that away from him nor take that away from Kau'e. He is half Brazilian, half American you know!

While we were in Utah doing school I didn't link myself to Utah at all. It's just a place where Romulo and I will be for 3-4 years while he finished school. So when we had the world open to us for picking a job and place we would have jumped at a job in Virginia and heck even in Brazil. But that wasn't in our cards! We were led to SF and man I'm glad we did! We love it here!

We love the Bay Area! We have been here almost 4 years and it's crazy to think we have lived here longer than any other place since we've been married. So with that I guess we should call the SF/Bay Area HOME! (Still sounds weird when I type/say it!)

Hopefully through these additional pictures you will see how much we love it too! Pictures taken this last week with my sister, Marian, who came to visit! WE love it when family comes! (And we love it when friends come too.) Come one, come ALL! Seriously, the door is always open!

Watermelon Please

Well that's what we tried at least! Tonight we gave Kau'e some watermelon! Here's what he thought of it in pictures/video!

Then after his watermelon feast he had a bath! Then he watched a little NFL preseason game with Dad before heading to bed. Oh how I love my boys!

32 Weeks Plus Family Time

Can you believe that 32 weeks ago I gave birth to this little boy? He has been outside of me as long as he was inside of me! Crazy huh?

Also, we have had a lot of fun with family for the past two weeks! I love seeing my family interact with Kau'e. Kau'e is such a people-person that he loves it too! I just wish we lived closer to some family so they could see him everyday and he too could see them! But that's why I love Blogging, email, and even FB!

Kau'e rode his first Cable Car ride with Auntie Marian, went to Napa County and saw a Castle Vineyard, ride BART to and from the city (WC to SF), plus much much more! He's such a great trooper with all the visits and mini trips we've been making! I feel very lucky in that!

First for Everything

Besides the random runny or stuffy nose Kau'e I think is sick for the first time! It's not bad just runny nose, a little (little) cough (or maybe he's just practicing his fake cough), and is cranky. Maybe he's cutting more teeth? Or maybe it's just him still suffering from his constipation (still waiting for the doctor to call me back; errr)? Well whatever it is our household is sick! I'm hoping its just allergy cold and not a cold or worse!

Last week I got a little allergy cold and its still lingering but then a few days after I started little boy started to show a little sign of the same thing. Romulo was the one hanging strong, well until last night! His is more of a cough. So last night I entered into another level of Motherhood and I think I'm going to be OK! Sure the night was long and tiredness is setting in right about now (and it's only 7:40am). Little boy seems to be about the same nothing worse but still worrying about him since I've never seen him sick! This should be fun! Plus, after calling his Peds doctor yesterday the nurse informed us that his doctor is out of the office this week so IF I WAS TO BRING HIM IN I would need to see another doctor. Sure I know other doctors in that practice but I love Dr. E! Well, I guess I'll see how the morning goes and then see if I need to take him in!

Romulo on the other hand...well I guess I'll let him be the big boy he is and tell me how he feels about seeing a doc or not!

Wish me luck on this Thursday.

P.S. Kau'e started to lift his arms up for you to pick him up every time you walk near him! Its really adorable but sometimes annoying because I want him to play and entertain himself but the second he sees me he gets distracted from what he's doing and wants me to pick him up! Okay, maybe annoying isn't the word but you know what I mean. He needs to learn to play on his own. But it's really cute now that he's sick and wants to be all snugglie.

Little Kau'e Video

7 months and 6 days old (its late)

Yeah, I'm late on the 7 month picture of Kau'e. But I have a good excuse, I had family in town and was too busy to do or to remember! We had a blast with family and I did at least take pictures of Kau'e through the whole visit. And I did get a picture of him at the Jelly Belly Factory (see past post) on the 28th so that counts.

Here's the big boy himself! By the way, Kau'e just learned how to roll from back to front! He's been rolling tummy to back for a while now. Now I can't wait to see him do multiple rolls in a row!

Plus, Romulo and I are 1 month away from celebrating our 7 year wedding anniversary! Can't believe its been almost 7 years! I've enjoyed every moment! Love you Romulo!

The Food Diary of an Infant

Kau'e is getting exposed to a lot of baby foods lately and I think he's enjoying it way too much! I guess he is my child because I love food!

Foods Kau'e has tried and likes (there isn't anything that I've had him try that he hasn't shown me that he's not interested in):

-Bananas (he'll eat the whole jar in one sitting)
-Pears
-Prunes (loves them)
-Apples
-Carrots
-Sweet Potatoes (so yummy)
-Rice and Oatmeal cereal (he doesn't eat too much of this because he gets so backed up its so sad to see)
-Green Beans
-Peas

Drinks water and prune juice. Loves prune juice. I've even given him a mix of Apple Juice and Prune juice.

Speaking of drinking, I didn't want to jinx us but Kau'e is drinking a different formula! Yes! He went from drinking Similac's Alimentum Ready to Feed formula (32 oz), not the powder formula since the first ingredient was corn based (he's allergic to corn like his Daddy), to Earth's Best Organic Milk Base Powder Formula! I love it because with the Alimentum we spent close to $400 a month on this formula but with the Earth's Best we spend less than half of that amount! Isn't that amazing?

We were in Babies R Us looking at formula one Saturday when we found ourselves looking at this Earth's Best formula can and comparing it to everything else on the shelves! We were amazed to see that even though its a powder milk base formula it didn't have half of the crap that the others had in it; hence Organic! So we thought why not spend $30 on this can even if we only try it once. So that's just what we did.

We took one weekend and tried it out and wouldn't you know the little boy loved it! All week I was holding my breath but its been almost 3 weeks now and nothing but good things! That's an answer to our prayers! Plus, I'm able to purchase it even cheaper off of Amazon Mom's Subscribe and Save program! I love it! Oh and how much easier it is to go out and about with the little man with this formula. Since it's powder all I have to do is bring a tub with formula and a bottle of water! So much better than the Ready to Feed formula where we had to make sure it was cold all the time if it was open or it would go bad within the hour! I felt like I dragged the freezer with me at times!

Can't wait to see what else the little man will want to eat this month?

(Side note: even though he's eating more he's doing number 2's less. Having to call the doctor a lot. Hopefully we will find the trick and get him regular again.)
