Home

1 year ago today we brought our little boy Kau'e home from the hospital. He had to be in the NICU for 16 days after his birth on December 28 2010 because he came prematurely at 32 weeks and 5 days! Then the next day my mom came in to help with Kau'e. Kau'e meeting Me-Mom was so precious!

We have been so amazed at this little boy and his strength. He has been a joy to watch growing up and developing. His little personality is precious to us.

Kau'e's Year Appointment

I can not believe its been a year since this little one has been to Dr. E! We love Dr E in SF! He was kind enough to take Kau'e into his practice when Kau'e was born prematurely!

Today was Kau'e's 1 year check up wellness appointment! Kau'e weighs 28 lbs 8 oz (100%) and is 31 inches long (95%). He is hitting all milestones he should be at his age for a full term baby.

Things we are to do with him now:

-Stop Zantac and see how hiss spitting up goes
-Stop adding 1 TBSP of Barley to Milk
-Limit his milk intake to 32oz daily
-Give him more water and juice instead of milk
-Do the Ferber Method so he can learn now to sleep on his own and through out the night
-Keep exposing him to new foods, foods we eat
-Give him yogurt and cottage cheese for 2 weeks and see how he reacts to it and then after that if he's okay start whole milk (heaven!!!)
-Keep an eye on his feet as he walks, if they are getting worse - turning inward - then we need to take him back to the doctor. If he is adjusting fine and not getting worse than no problem. But we will keep in mind for him to see the DR again at 2 years just to make sure his feet are okay.
-Keep exposing him to books, languages, and the world around him.

2012 A New Year

It's going to be an exciting new year for the Aguilar's! It's a great time for us to reflect on what 2011 brought to our family! Kau'e was just born and Romulo and I brought in the New Year with Kau'e in the NICU. He moved from the normal NICU room to the Feeders and Growers NICU room. We were feeling so blessed that our little preemie was doing so well.

Every month after his release from the hospital was one big party! We enjoyed his every development and growth and I'm pretty sure everyone else in the world followed or saw the excitement in our home; either thru facebook or this blog. We wanted to make sure our families where ever they may be could see the blessing Kau'e was to us!

This year we brought in the new year by flying back from Brazil. We were on the overnight flight when the new year rang in! We had a 1 year on our lap sleeping and things were peaceful!

Kau'e is so smart! He loves it when we sneeze and say Saude (Bless You in Portuguese). We tend to do it all the time just to see him smile and laugh! He is walking all over the place even though a lot of the time he looks drunk! But being back home he is more adventurous and is following me all around!

Wednesday we go to his 1 year check up appointment and it's hard to believe that we have made it to this milestone! Stats to come!
