Winnfield Grant Horn

February 28 2007 my older sister Marian and her husband Jared had a baby boy, Winnfield Grant Horn. The spelling of the name is still up in the air; it brings a lot of laughs. Its kind of a long story but here it is short I hope. When Marian found out it was a boy she knew she wanted to name him after my grandfather's middle name (father's father) but he spelled it with 1 N - Winfield. So Marian thought why don't I spell it with 2 N's - Winnfield. Well, after the baby was delivered there was a lot of confusion and not the normal confusion but that's another long long story so when the time came for naming the baby and putting it down for SSN and Birth Certificate reasons the name was put down with 1 N - Winfield. But the catch of the story is she went back and forth so many times nobody really knew how she wanted 1 N or 2 N's. Many months later I flew home to visit my family in VA and when I went to the doctors with her, the Health ID card had Winnfield's name down with 1 N. This really upset my sister and after some research (looking at SSN card and birth certificate) she realized her baby's name was spelled wrong and from what she told me it was too late. But my sister being the person who she is and who I love still spells his name with 2 N's - Winnfield and for short we all call him Winn. Here are some adorable pictures of him over the year.

Graduation Day

We are so proud of Romulo. He graduated from BYU (www.byu.edu) in April 2008 in the Marriott School of Management in Business with emphasis in Finance. He was also honored to receive honors from Phi Kappa Phi. The weather was so crazy that day, we thought we were beating the crowd when we took the pictures in front of the BYU sign but when we arrived the weather took a turn and it started to get very windy and snow. Snow in April; Utah gets some funky weather people! (People who attended his graduation: Emma (my sister), Sissi (Ro's sister), and Ro's mission President and wife the Bretzings and me.)

Sissi's Wedding

Sissi, Romulo's only sister and baby of the family, got married last August (2007) and his parents were able to come for their wedding from Brazil. It was so much fun having them here in the States and at the time we were living in Utah and having the LDS Church headquarters there made it even better. Romulo's mom stayed for a whole month and his father joined later and stayed for 2 weeks. His dad couldn't believe that at restaurants they gave out FREE COKE. He went back to Brazil saying "More Coke." It was funny. They also enjoyed loving to see the Salt Lake Temple. The day they left Romulo, myself, Sissi, and her new husband Stephen were all able to go through the Temple for a session. It was such an amazing experience for us all. For me, it allowed me to reflect on my many blessings and know I have a family forever.

Wedding Day 9-3-2004

We were married in the Washington D.C. Temple (www.lds.org) for time and all eternity on September 3 2004. This year we will celebrate our 4th anniversary. We look so young. Neglect

So, we've had this blog for a while now and I'm just learning how to do it. Romulo set it up but somewhere during all of that I didn't get the 411 on how to do it. So last night before we went to bed he showed me. Then this morning I found the cutest background for our blog! If anyone reads this I hope they will bare with me and have fun reading the blog because I'm going to take you back in time. Hopefully to catch you up on what has been happening with us.

It has almost been 4 years since we got married, Romulo graduated from BYU in May, his family came for Sissi's (Ro's sister) wedding last August, from Brazil, Sissi is now pregnant and due in September, my two older sisters had babies last year and the boys are now 1+years, we did an internship in San Francisco, CA last summer with PricewaterhouseCoopers (visit www.pwc.com) and today is Romulo's first day as a "WORKING GUY", as Easton my cute 5 year old nephew would say, for PWC.

San Francisco, Here we are

Wow! This move was crazy. On Thursday, the 29th, I picked up the truck and, with the help of 5 other guys, loaded it with all of our stuff (with all that help, it took us just over an hour to load the whole thing). From that on, Lydia and her friends cleaned up the apartment, which went on until later that night. Lydia and I went to a hotel, where we could take a shower and get some rest. At 12:30am, Stephen met us and the trip began: Stephen driving the truck and I drove the car (Sissi and Lydia flew the night after).
We drove for 13 hours straight, stopping only for fuel and food. At times we were so tired that we would call each other up just to talk and stay up.
Well, when we got in San Ramon, we had to unload the truck. THIS TIME, HOWEVER, THERE WERE ONLY THE TWO OF US, already waisted because of the driving.
We began box by box, piece of furniture by piece of furniture. It took us almost 3 hours, and by the time we finish, I bet we could fall asleep while we walked...
We couldn't sleep yet, because we had to get back in the car and go pick the girls up at the the airport. Their flight was supposed to have landed at 10:10pm, so Stephen and I left at about 9pm from San Ramon. Well, SFO had fog problems, which force all airplanes to delay, and Lydia and Sissi only landed after 1am!!!! Stephen and I couldn't handle much more, and within 10 minutes in the airport, we both crashed. I don't remember much of the wait to be honest.

The good part was that after all the insanity of the move, we were able to spend an awesome weekend with Sissi and Stephen, as we toured San Francisco. Pictures of our visit with Sissi and Stephen.

New Ride

So, Lydia and I bought a new car this last weekend: a new 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS. We love it!!!!!
We had been thinking about buying a new car for a while, and everything ended up working just fine that day: great price, great APR, great car, and even great salesman (Tyler, an awesome kid...).
Since the day we got the car, we haven't been able to get off from it, driving around everytime and everywhere, just for the kicks.

Deja Vu

It sounds just like last year, but it did happen again! Our intramural volleyball team won the double-elimination tournament, and played in the final against the same team as last year! It was a tight game, went to tie-breaker again, and we won again! Back to back championships, baby!
Here is a little video of the highlights, including a really long rally that took their wind out and led us to the win. Thanks to Lydia, that caught it all! P.S. This cute little kid is not ours, we wish because he is so adorable, but his name is NATE!

San Fran, Here we go!!!

Lydia and I decided to accept the offer from PricewaterhouseCoopers, the company I did an internship with during the summer, and we will be living in San Francisco next year. Pretty exciting, actually. Now we are trying to get everything else set up: apartment, doctors, etc.
To be honest, the two of us cannot wait until we are out and moving on with our lives. School time was fun, but we are glad it is almost over.
